<p>Goniatites are an extinct group of ammonoid, which are shelled cephalopods related to squids, belemnites, octopuses, and cuttlefish, and more distantly to the nautiloids. They lived in the earth’s oceans about 300 million years ago. Goniatites were a free swimming animal possessing a head with two well developed eyes and grasping tentacles. They swam by squirting water out of the body cavity.</p>
<p>These are prime, well developed specimens of the goniatite polished to a wonderful finish. They are free standing, will fit with any decor, and be wonderful to add to any fossil collection.</p>
